Keith Melo

Program Coordinator, School of Emergency Management, George Brown College.

Keith Melo has a Master's degree in Disaster and Emergency Management (MDEM) from York University and a Law & Security Administration (LASA) diploma from Humber College. Mr. Melo is the Program Coordinator - Professor at the School of Emergency Management, George Brown College. He has been in the public education sector for several years where he has facilitated emergency management, security and police foundation programs. Mr. Melo has his designation through Emergency Management Ontario (EMO), as a Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) and is a Provincial Instructor; he is also a certified Professional in Critical Infrastructure Protection (PCIP). He has completed courses through the Federal Canadian Emergency Management College, Toronto Police Services in emergency management and community policing and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) where he holds the accreditation of Counter Terrorism Information Officer (CTIO). He is currently with Cadillac Fairview where he oversees Security and Life Safety.

Mr. Melo recently received a letter of recognition from the House of Commons, ex-Minister of Public Safety Canada, Honorable Steven Blaney, MP, Privy Councilor for his efforts in national security.

Mr. Melo has been recognized and awarded the Gwen M. Boniface Award by the Commissionaire of the Ontario Provincial Police. York University awarded him the Ambassador Award in Disaster and Emergency Management. He served as the Vice President of OVERT (Ontario Volunteer Emergency Response Team) which responds to local and international disasters. He has sat on a number of advisory committees that included ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security), Toronto Port Authority, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and he currently sits on Public Safety Canada – Emergency Management Branch as an Advisor.
