Cecile Hammond

Supt., York Regional Police

Supt. Cecile Hammond began her policing career with York Regional Police in March 1998. She has served the communities of Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket and Aurora as a frontline police officer. 

Throughout her career, she has worked in several investigative and support units, including Crimes Against Children & Sexual Assault, Homicide, Integrated Domestic Violence and the Practical Skills Unit. She held the position of co-chair for the York Region Community Centre for Community Safety, which provides wrap-around support for those affected by intimate partner violence, one of her most cherished roles, for two years.

Promoted to the rank of inspector in 2018, she was assigned to the Real Time Operations Centre before moving on as the commander in charge of the Training and Education and Professional Development bureaus.   

Currently, Cecile is the Superintendent of Corporate Development and oversees the Uniform Recruiting and Staff Development Units in addition to the Training and Education Bureau which is responsible for providing all Academic and Practical Skills related training to all York Regional Police members.

Supt. Hammond holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University with a major in Sociology. She maintains a connection with the community and is actively involved in several sports including hockey and soccer.
